We're back with a discussion on Pokemon Sword and Shield. Does the game deliver on its promises of new gameplay experiences, or did it compromise too much on its way to the Switch?

Brotherly Love Gaming Episode 25: Mobile Game-apalooza

Today on the podcast we’re discussing something we never thought we’d discuss: mobile games we like (and one we don’t like, to be fair). First Spence has a lot of great things to say about Call of Duty mobile before Alex has some bad news about Mario Kart Tour (it isn’t very good, sorry). Finally Alex dives deep into Apple Arcade, including why it’s actually really cool and which games he’s enjoying.

Sirfetch'd Is the Best Pokemon

Today the Pokemon Company revealed it’s newest Pokemon: Sirfetch’d. The Wild Duck Pokemon is the long awaited evolution of Farfetch’d - a Pokemon introduced in the original Pokemon games way back in 1996. Sirfetch’d was worth the wait.

Revel in his majesty

According to the announcement, “Farfetch’d that inhabit the Galar region can evolve into Sirfetch’d after experiencing many battles.” While Farfetch’d holds its signature leek like a club, Sirfetch’d uses its leek as a lance, and even has a shield made of leaves. Sirfetch’d will be exclusive to Pokemon Sword, with no word yet on whether Pokemon Shield will get a corresponding exclusive.

Sirfetch’d is an amazing Pokemon and I can’t wait to have him on my team. Pokemon Sword and Pokemon Shield release for the Nintendo Switch on November 15, 2019.

Brotherly Love Gaming Episode 24: Cloud Will Crossdress

Today on the podcast Alex has finally finished Fire Emblem so he has a lot to say about it (spoiler free!). Then we get into some news out of Tokyo Game Show, including new information on the Final Fantasy 7 Remake, whether Resident Evil Project Resistance is a “real” Resident Evil game, doubts about Dragon Ball Z Kakarot, and how Ring Fit Adventure looks weirdly cool.

Brotherly Love Gaming Episode 23: Nintendo Direct Hype Fall 2019 Forever

Nintendo Direct HYPE!

A lot of cool stuff was announced, so Alex explains it all to Spence and you get to see his reactions! We don’t cover EVERYTHING because there was so much and we already talk too much BUT we do cover thoughts on Overwatch, Banjo & Kazooie in Smash Ultimate, the NEW Smash character, SNES games hitting Switch Online, Tetris 99 updates, Trials of Mana, Little Town Hero, Pokemon Sword and Shield, and Xenoblade Chronicles… it’s a lot!

Brotherly Love Gaming Episode 22: Becoming A Pokemon Master

There’s a new Pokemon game out, so Alex had to try it…even if it’s only on mobile and Alex doesn’t play mobile games. We also talk about some news of the week, including some spicy teases of games revealing at Tokyo Game Show (there’s going to be a new Resident Evil, and it might not be what people are expecting). Meanwhile Spence is playing too many games to finish Fire Emblem, while Alex has hit an even better part of the already great game.

Brotherly Love Gaming Episode 21: Gamescom, Dragon Quest, but Mostly Fire Emblem

Spence started playing Fire Emblem: Three Houses so we dove in DEEP into discussing and comparing the game (like, an hour long discussion deep). We’re playing different houses, so the stories we’re getting are slightly different. Spoilers for the first half of Three Houses in the second half of the episode, don’t worry, we warn you! Before that though we break down some Gamescom news and why you should play the Dragon Quest XI Switch demo.

Brotherly Love Gaming Episode 18: What Even is Pokemon Anymore?

Today on the podcast we're talking about recent Pokemon controversies surrounding the upcoming Sword and Shield. A lot of hardcore fans are not happy about some key changes to the series, so we break it down and talk about what Pokemon even means to us anymore. Before all that though Spence is excited to talk about Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3, and Alex is…less excited to talk about buying a PSone Classic (yes, really).

Brotherly Love Gaming Episode 17: E3 2019 Reactions

Today on the podcast we're talking about what surprised, amazed, and infuriated us about E3 2019. We both agree on the winner of the week, but that’s about all we agree on. It’s a long one, so strap in and get ready for some video game talk!

Brotherly Love Gaming Episode 16: Pokemon Sword Doggo

Today on the podcast we're talking about Pokemon Sword and Shield, which had a big Pokemon Direct yesterday. A ton of new features were announced and we even got a release date: November 15, 2019. I have a gripe about the way it’s being released though…

Brotherly Love Gaming Episode 15: GameStop, Port Prices, and PlayStation Productions

Today on the podcast we're talking about changes to GameStop's rewards program that may or may not spell doom for the company, which leads us into a discussion on how much ports of old games should even cost. We also discuss news from the Hollywood Reporter about Sony opening a PlayStation Productions movie studio to make films out of its video game properties.

We’re making some slight changes to the podcast over the next couple weeks, starting with this one. The audio version will include extra talk that doesn’t make it into the YouTube version, so leave us a review on iTunes if you like what you hear!
